Dr. Kamaria Catalan, Veterinarian

Dr. Kamaria Catalan

Hello, I am Dr. Kamaria Catalan.  I am affectionately known as "Dr. Cat".  I am fortunate enough to have been practicing veterinary medicine for over 15 years now.  I was one of those kids that when asked what they wanted to be, I proudly announced "a vet" and never wavered from that dream. I had my first job in a vet hospital was when I was fourteen!  I continued working for local vets, and other animal organizations on through college.  After graduating with a zoology degree from Howard University, I attended Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.  I graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1996.  I became certified in veterinary acupuncture (CA) in 2011.

I am originally from Detroit, Michigan.  I have lived in Cincinnati for 13 years.  My practice has grown from a van to a large full service facility.  For that I am extremely grateful to my team, my community, my family, and God who continues to bless me.  Outside of working, I have many interests.  I love art fairs, genealogy, playing with my dogs, comedy, and catching up with old friends. My guilty pleasures are ice cream and reality TV.  I recently learned how to play tennis.

I am also a mom and a wife.  My boys are 15, 13, and 41.

Cindy Alvey, Management

Cindy Alvey

My name is Cindy Alvey. I have been with House Vets since 2005. I am honored to work here everyday, I get to be part of so many avenues of the business. My greatest love is building strong customer relationships and making a connection with animals that are older and in their geriatric years. I have no children but I have my wonderful dog Ella Bella and 9 cats, and a bunny.

I grew up on a farm in Bethel Ohio. We had every animal under the sun. I love all living things, anything with a heartbeat has a value and a worth. I am a true country girl with a little city flare.

Rebecca McDonald

Hi! Most everyone knows me as "Becca". I am a Veterinary Assistant. I started working for House Vets in 2007 and I absolutely love it! I have been part of every side of the practice. I help in boarding, house calls, surgery, and receptionist. I'm a HUGE animal lover and am currently attending college at UC. I'm always rescuing animals and I have several pets of my own. I have help place stray animals to several new families and will continue to be active in helping an animal in need. The staff calls me "Dr. Doolittle" because I have a way to get even the most scared or aggressive animal to trust me and stay calm.

Angie Martinez

I have been with House Vets since 2009. I am a Fit Club and Boarding Kennel Technician. I love my job very much. I am use to working with lots of children, so watching over and caring for all the dogs is second nature to me. All the dogs are like my kids. I take great pride in running a fun, safe, and clean environment. I have so much fun taking photos of all my buddies having fun and creating picture boards for all the clients to see. I know every dog's name, parent's name, and all the dogs likes and dislikes. I take my job very seriously and cannot imagine not seeing all my canine friends daily. Creating a place where a dog can have fun and feel safe is so great. You really can see how much all the dogs enjoy it here. When I am not at work I spend my time with my two children. I love Coney Island and Betty Boop!

Whitney Shepard

Hello! I have been with House Vets since 2008. I am a lead receptionist. I have worked all over the clinic, but being a receptionist is where I shine the most. I love every day at my job, because of the relationships I have built with the clients, patients, and staff. I am pursuing my Veterinary Technician degree and hope to be graduated by November of 2012. I am also a mommy! My son is 2 years old. I have several pets. I have two cats, one dog, a hamster, and a bearded dragon. If I can find time between all my responsibilities, I love to horseback ride, take my son to the zoo, aquarium, and to parks. I'm also a big fan of Harry Potter!

I have been with House Vets since 2011. I am a Veterinary Assistant. I feel very lucky that I have the opportunity to be part of this wonderful family. I love coming to work everyday. I think my favorite part of the job is educating clients on the importance of wellness compliance. Making sure that a pet has the best care possible is really important to me. I have a wonderful two year old son. I have two dogs. When I am not at work I spend every minute with my son. He is the true joy of my life!

Staff Outings and Team Building Events

PET HEALTH DAY

We take a lot of pride in the fact we are a very close group of workers. We consider each of us as friends and are always trying to get together and do activities  to continue to build strong long term relationships between us.

We think these activities are a critical tool to ensure that our bond between each other will also be the bond you feel as a client when you visit our facility. We are always trying to make new relationships and continue to build on the ones we already have with our clients.

Staff Fun Photo

Yes! We do have a lot of fun together!

We figured we should know what it feels like to be a pet wearing an E-collar. We all learned quickly that everything echoes and it can get hot, but we got use to them. We had fun!
